In this session, Helen Snell (Diabetes Service Nurse Leader, New Zealand) will present the status of diabetes education in New Zealand, Larry Hirsch (Becton Dickinson and Company, USA) will discuss about Lipo-hypertrophy, glycemic variability, and injection technique, post-FITTER – why I.T. all matters, Prof. Suh, Eunyoung (Seoul National University, Korea) will introduce the ‘Core values and competence of education nurses for patients with diabetes’ and Jung, Jinhee (Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, Korea) will share and discuss the results of study which is conducted by Korean Association of Diabetes Nurse Educators. Traditional food and management of health and diabetes
The shift from the traditional diet to the western diet is thought one of the main causes of not only metabolic diseases including obesity, diabetes and hypertension but also many kinds of cancers. There are many kinds of traditional diets in the world. What is the main characteristics of traditional diets and those diets are really healthy diets? In this session, four prominent researchers will present their excellent findings and evidences on traditional diets from large population data, randomized controlled trial and long term prospective cohort studies. Prof. Min-Jeong Shin (Korea University, Korea) will talk about the diet, metabolic signature and type 2 diabetes risk in Korean population. Prof. Tae Sun Park (Chonbuk National University, Korea) will present on Korean traditional dietary pattern and diabetes with their recent evidences from randomized controlled trial. Prof. Wei Zheng (Vanderbilt University, USA) will talk on lifestyles for healthy living and longevity with results regarding the association of disease risk with dietary intake and other lifestyle factors from large prospective cohort studies in Asians. Finally, Dr. Cecilie Kyrø (Danish Cancer Society Research Center, Denmark) will present on Nordic diet and prevention of cancer, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease with recent data of the most important food components of Nordic diet, whole grains and biomarkers.
