Public engagement session for diabetes
This session was designed to provide a place for people to directly hear the vivid voice of peoples with diabetes. In this session, a variety of peoples, including those participating in insulin essay competition and diabetes campers, will talk their real life and some difficulties to participants who attend the ICDM 2017. This session will be the first step toward getting people with diabetes and healthcare professionals closer.

The Diabetes & Metabolism Journal (DMJ), the official journal of Korean Diabetes Association (KDA), publishes articles on basic and clinical studies, focusing on areas such as metabolism, epidemiology, pathogenesis, complications, and treatments relevant to diabetes mellitus bimonthly. It also publishes articles covering obesity and cardiovascular disease. DMJ has been accepted in indexing in Emerging Sources of Citation Index (ESCI), a new edition of Web of Science™ since 2015. The Committee of Publication of KDA has selected the best articles among papers published in DMJ in 2016. In this session, the authors of the selected articles will share results of their outstanding researches.

International Clinical Practice Guidelines for Diabetes Mellitus; NICE, IDF, AACE, JDS, and KDA
The Committee of Clinical Practice Guideline of Korean Diabetes Association (KDA) published “2015 Clinical Practice Guidelines for Diabetes in Korea” in 2015 and had a discussion session with 5 Asian countries in 2016 ICDM. In 2017, KDA published a position statement on the use of antihyperglycemic agents for patients with type 2 diabetes. At this juncture, KDA invites speakers from 4 countries to share and discuss their own guidelines. This international committee session for clinical practice guidelines in 2017 ICDM is believed to provide the most updated evidence-based recommendations for type 2 diabetes.

Looking for ultimate solution for cure of diabetes in Asia
This session was organized to make an international occasion for gathering of Asian experts in diabetes care in both developed and developing countries. The representatives from more than 10 countries from all over the Asia will participate in the presentation of their own problems in diabetes care and discuss about the solution for the unmet needs in diabetes care in Asia. The ultimate goal of this session resides in continuous collaboration among the Asian countries and diabetes societies in the prevention and cure of diabetes in Asia in the future.
